Sun bears are the smallest bear species in the world, native to Southeast Asia, and known for their distinctive black coat with a crescent marking on their chest. They are primarily arboreal and agile climbers, making them well-suited to life in the rainforest.

The Sun Bear Centre in Sepilok is a conservation and education center dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing sun bears back into the wild. The center provides a safe and natural environment for the bears to learn survival skills, and visitors can observe the bears, learn about their behavior and conservation efforts, and even volunteer to help with their care. The Sun Bear Centre is essential for the protection and preservation of sun bears and their habitat in Southeast Asia.
