Orangutans are one of the three great ape species in the world, native to Borneo and Sumatra. They are known for their intelligence and have a distinctive reddish-brown fur, long arms, and an ability to use tools. Orangutans are primarily arboreal and spend most of their time in the trees.

The Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Sepilok is a sanctuary for orphaned, injured, or displaced orangutans. The center provides a natural environment where orangutans can learn the necessary survival skills to return to the wild. Visitors can observe these intelligent primates, learn about their challenges in the wild, and conservation efforts to protect them. The center is a vital facility for the protection and preservation of orangutans and their habitat in Borneo and Sumatra.
